Canterbury coach Des Hasler won't be asking firebrand David Klemmer to curb his aggression despite his ban for a cannonball tackle.
The giant Bulldogs prop will make his first appearance of the NRL season against Penrith on Thursday night after sitting out the first week due to a suspension for a hit on Melbourne's Kenny Bromwich in a pre-season trial.
Despite Klemmer's history of losing his cool, Hasler said he wouldn't be asking the NSW Origin forward to dial down his intensity for fear of detracting from his game.
"We don't want to overreact to his last indiscretion," Hasler said on Wednesday.
"He's a great bloke so let's not get ahead of ourselves.
"He provides that energy, that's just his game. He's a great player.
He'll be OK."
Klemmer was previously warned by referees during the trial against the Storm at Belmore Sportsground after he had allegedly become incensed about a similar tackle on Bulldogs hooker Michael Lichaa.
He allegedly told his teammates on the field that he was going to "break some legs", a claim he denied during his judiciary hearing.
Klemmer has a history of run-ins with the judiciary because of ill discipline and was last year suspended for three matches for abusing referee Gerard Sutton during the infamous "Bad Friday" match with South Sydney.
