Knee injury ends Plowman's AFL season

Carlton have confirmed that Lachie Plowman will not play again this season after he was hurt in Sunday's loss to Collingwood.

Lachie Plowman's AFL season is over after the Carlton defender suffered a knee injury on Sunday in the loss to Collingwood.

The Blues have confirmed that Plowman has a grade-two medial ligament strain in his right knee.

The good news for Plowman is that he will not need surgery.

Levi Casboult was ruled out before the opening bounce when he broke a finger during the warm-up, while ruckman Matthew Kreuzer also suffered an ankle injury against the Magpies.

The Blues are still awaiting word on their injuries.

Carlton also hope that captain Marc Murphy will return from a foot injury for Saturday's MCG match against Port Adelaide.

It will be Kade Simpson's 300th match.
