Newcastle have been dealt a blow, with back-rower Jamie Buhrer ruled out for up to eight matches.
Buhrer fractured his foot at Thursday's captain's run, and was taken immediately for scans.
He will miss the next two months for the Knights, beginning with the Good Friday clash with the Sydney Roosters at McDonald Jones Stadium.
The injury is a significant hit for the Knights, given the 27-year-old has been one of their best players this year.
Since arriving from Manly in the off-season, he has averaged more than 10 runs per game and busted the line twice - adding stability to the Newcastle pack on the right edge.
