Knights' Peter Mata'utia fined for trip

Knights centre Peter Mata'utia was hit with a grade-one tripping charge in their 20-18 loss to Canterbury on Sunday.

Newcastle centre Peter Mata'utia is set to be fined up to $1500 for tripping in the Knights' last-gasp NRL loss to Canterbury.

Mata'utia was hit with a grade-one tripping charge for a first-minute incident with Bulldogs' forward Raymond Faitala-Mariner, but can cut the penalty to $1100 with an early guilty plea.

Mata'utia, whose two tries weren't enough to prevent the Knights' going down 20-18, was the only player charged in the shortened round 18 of the NRL.
