Newcastle's revolving mid-season door has continued to rotate, with Mitch Barnett and Brendan Elliot headed to the club and Tariq Sims' departure still a possibility.
The club officially confirmed the immediate arrival of Canberra second-rower Barnett on Tuesday, while outside-back Elliot will also join the club after 14 games for the Sydney Roosters.
"Mitch and Brendan are both ready to play NRL and provide plenty for our team and club," coach Nathan Brown said.
The pair will be a welcome arrival to the struggling Knights, who have slipped to one win from their opening 11 games and sit last on the ladder.
They also add to the wealth of young talent at the club, with Barnett having played two NRL games for the Raiders since leaving Newcastle's lower grade system in 2013.
"Mitch is an edge player, which is important. He is willing, he's aggressive and a very good line runner," Brown said.
"He was wanted by a number of clubs so it is pleasing he is returning to the Knights."
Meanwhile it's understood the mid-season departure of Tariq Sims to St George Illawarra still remains a possibility if the two clubs can come to terms.
Sims, a second-rower himself, is signed to the Dragons for next season but it has been reported the Knights would like at least one player in return for the mid-season trade.
"I'm not sure how it will play out at the moment," Sims' manager, Scott Hill, told AAP on Wednesday.
"At the end of the day it's a relationship between both the clubs - it's out of Tariq's hands."
