Katter Party MP Shane Knuth won't yet commit to contesting the next Queensland election after his seat vanished in a redraft of electoral districts.

Katter Party MP Shane Knuth is considering his options after a shake-up of Queensland's electoral districts wiped his existing seat of Dalrymple off the map.

Mr Knuth is looking at two new seats that will swallow chunks of his electorate but didn't name them. He also wouldn't guarantee he'd contest the next election, saying the carve up of Dalrymple across three new electorates would make things "very, very difficult" for him.

He's told the ABC that his Katter Party colleague, Robbie Katter, will contest the new seat of Traeger, which takes in some of Dalrymple and Mr Katter's existing Mount Isa electorate.

Mr Knuth is furious about the proposed changes, suggesting they appear to be an attempt to "get rid of" minor parties like the Katter Party.

He says he'll lodge a formal objection to the Queensland Redistribution Commission's recommendation that Dalrymple should go.

"I'm very, very disappointed," Mr Knuth told the ABC on Friday.

"The seat has been divided up into three sections - completely dividing up my traditional supporter, voter base, which is going to make it very, very difficult."

He said he needed to discuss his options with his family. But if he decided to run for one of the two seats he was looking at, it would mean leaving his home near Charters Towers.

Possible options include the new seat of Hill and McMaster, which take in the northern and southern parts of Dalrymple, respectively.

Asked if he would definitely contest the election, he said: "It's very difficult to gauge at this present moment."
