Kohli out, India 4-173 in Windies 2nd Test

India are 4-173 in their first innings, in reply to the West Indies' 311, at tea on day two of the second Test in Hyderabad after losing Virat Kohli's wicket.

India have lost the crucial wicket of captain Virat Kohli before reaching 4-173 in reply to the West Indies' 311 at tea on day two of the second Test.

Kohli scored 45 in a productive middle session on Saturday for the Windies in Hyderabad. Also dismissed were Privthi Shaw for 70 and Cheteshwar Pujara for 10.

Ajinkya Rahane, 19no, and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, unbeaten on nine, were at the crease, 138 runs from matching the visitors' total.

After a good morning session for India, during which the West Indies were finished off in 25 minutes after Roston Chase had reached a century, India scored 93 runs in this second session but also lost those three wickets.

Shaw was the first to fall, having sped to 70 runs off 53 balls, including 11 fours and a six. The youngster was playing another aggressive knock, like at Rajkot where he made his debut, when he hit the ball straight to cover off left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and was caught.

Eight balls after Shaw went, paceman Shannon Gabriel dismissed Pujara.

India were 3-102 when Kohli and Rahane came together to put on 60 runs for the fourth wicket.

The duo looked in control and easily dominated the West Indies' bowling. To their credit, the visitors kept things as tidy as possible and never let the run rate get out of hand.

Kohli and Rahane put on 50 in 107 balls when the big moment came 20 minutes before tea, when captain Jason Holder trapped his counterpart lbw. Kohli reviewed the decision but it stayed in the West Indies' favour on umpire's call.

Holder has 2-30.
