Kookaburras brush aside Canada

The Kookaburras have beaten Canada 6-0 in their final pool match of the World League Final hockey tournament.

Australia have bounced back well from their 5-2 loss to Great Britain on Sunday with a 6-0 win over Canada in their final pool match of World League Final hockey tournament in the Indian city of Jaipur on Tuesday.

First quarter strikes from Daniel Beale, Jeremy Hayward, Dylan Wotherspoon and Matthew Dawson were followed by two last-minute goals from Kieran Govers and Daniel Beale to cement the win over a determined Canadian side.

The Kookaburras will now play either Argentina or Germany in the quarter-finals on Wednesday or Thursday.

Their opponents will be confirmed depending on the result from the final Pool A match between Great Britain and Belgium.

"We started the match off well tonight which ultimately allowed us to head into halftime 4-0 up," said head coach Graham Reid.

"Tonight's team performance was a good comeback from our previous match against Great Britain, which has been good preparation for our upcoming quarter final.

"Interestingly enough, our game against Great Britain has brought the team closer together here in Raipur. We have used Sunday night's defeat as being a connection point within the team."
