The Kookaburras will play Belgium in the grand final of the Hockey World League Final after the European team beat host nation India 1-0 in their semi-final.

A solitary strike from Cedric Charlier gave Belgium the win and set up the clash with reigning world champions Australia, who beat the Netherlands a day earlier to progress to the gold-medal match.

Belgium coach Shane McLeod knows it will be a tough task to beat the No.1-ranked Kookaburras.

"They are used to the experience of playing in big finals, whereas for us it is the first time that we have been in the top four at a world-level event, and now we are in the top two, so we are really looking forward to it," McLeod said.

Kookaburras head coach Graham Reid said after beating the Netherlands 3-2 in Raipur on Saturday morning AEDT that "it wasn't pretty but we got there in the end".
