In Sydney, a 400-year-old musical work is being performed in the lead-up to Easter, but with an eastern inspired twist.

'Tears of Peter', Orlando di Lasso's last opus, brings together ancient Christian beliefs with koto music from Japan.

It's being performed in Sydney's St Mary's Cathedral crypt.
