In-form Nick Kyrgios has charged into the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships with a 6-4-6-4 victory over world No.7 Tomas Berdych.

It was 20-year-old's eighth successive victory and his second over the Czech in a week after his win in the semi-finals of the ATP event he claimed in Marseille last Sunday.

That triumph was his maiden tour success and he'll get the opportunity to win a second if he can beat old foe Stan Wawrinka in the semi-final if the Swiss world No.4 beats Philipp Kohlschreiber in their clash later on Thursday.

Kyrgios was imperious on serve, losing just four points in the second set, and sending down 10 aces after overcoming a back issue earlier in the match that required a medical time out.

He wrapped up the victory in just under an hour-and-a-half with an ace.
