World No.13 Nick Kyrgios has set his sights on winning back-to-back Hopman Cup trophies, but he knows it won't be easy with Roger Federer lurking in the field.
Kyrgios teamed with Daria Gavrilova to end Australia's 17-year Hopman Cup title drought last summer.
The pair have been reunited once again, and they'll start as second favourites behind the powerful Switzerland team of Federer and former world No.7 Belinda Bencic.
Federer's form will be somewhat of an unknown given he's spent the past six months on the sidelines following knee surgery.
Bencic also endured plenty of injury problems in 2016.
Australia and Switzerland have been placed in different groups, meaning the only way Kyrgios and Federer will meet is if they both reach Saturday's final.
"Hopefully we can win it," Kyrgios said.
"Going back to back would be great. Australia's only won it twice. To win it again would be awesome.
"On paper, yeah I guess we are the favourites. But I'm wary that all the men here can play a very good level of tennis."
Kyrgios and Gavrilova will be in action on Sunday night when Australia take on Spain.
Gavrilova will face world No.66 Lara Arruabarrena, while Kyrgios locks horns with world No.28 Feliciano Lopez.
In the day session, the Czech Republic pairing of Lucie Hradecka and Adam Pavlasek face America's Coco Vandeweghe and Jack Sock.
Switzerland's campaign begins on Monday night when they take on Great Britain.
Kyrgios says he is looking forward to partnering Gavrilova again.
"She's a good friend. We played juniors together as well, so I know her pretty well," Kyrgios said.
"It's good to have a partner you're comfortable with when you play mixed doubles."
