Labor calls on PM to act on housing

Labor has used parliament to call on Malcolm Turnbull to adopts its proposed changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax to address housing affordability.

Labor has tried to delay business in parliament to call on the prime minister to act on housing affordability.

Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen on Monday moved a motion in the lower house asking the federal government to adopt its plan to reform negative gearing and capital gains tax.

He told MPs the national housing affordability crisis had worsened over the Past year under Malcolm Turnbull's leadership, with house prices increasing by 16 per cent in Sydney and 12 per cent in Melbourne.
