Labor isn't easing up on its criticism of Attorney-General George Brandis, accusing him of failing to declare a conflict of interest to cabinet.
That relates to his recommendation that Liberal Party donor, Theo Tavoularis, who represented his son in a court case, be appointed to a high paying job on the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
"It is beyond belief that Senator Brandis has not thought it necessary to establish before today whether Mr Tavoularis effectively gave the Brandis family a gift, for which he was apparently rewarded with a plum job on the taxpayer dollar," shadow attorney-general Mark Dreyfus said in a statement.
Mr Dreyfus used question time in the House of Representatives on Monday to direct a a series of questions about Senator Brandis to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. He's expected to do the same again on Tuesday.
Mr Dreyus' questioning related to the attorney-general's dealings with Solicitor-General Justin Gleeson, most recently about advice relating to legislation stripping Australian citizenship from dual-national terrorists.
In a series of testy exchanges, the prime minister said the shadow attorney-general liked to "engage in a sort of Guthrie Featherstone QC MP versus Rumpole" debate over Senator Brandis.
Mr Turnbull said the disagreement between "these two learned gentlemen" could best be described as a "disturbance in the bar common room".
He said Mr Dreyfus should put aside his personal animosity, get on Australia's team and talk to the attorney-general if he had concerns about the legislation.
