The officer in charge of Parliament House's computer security says MPs and senators don't have to notify her of devices they connect to the highly sensitive network.
Labor senator Penny Wong asked the Department of Parliamentary Services' chief information officer Eija Seittenranta at an estimates hearing on Monday how she would approach an MP connecting a Huawei bluetooth watch to the network.
"We don't generally get notified of what devices senators and members bring into the system ... (and) we don't in DPS do independent assessments of risk for those devices," Ms Seittenranta told the committee, adding the network ran "malware" checks on anything connected to it.
