Labor leaders urge PM to drop tampon tax

Labor premiers and leaders have signed a statement urging Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to drop GST on women's sanitary products in Tuesday's budget.

Labor premiers and leaders across the country have signed a petition urging Treasurer Scott Morrison to ditch the GST on women's sanitary products in Tuesday's budget.

"This is an unfair and discriminatory anomaly in Australia's taxation system," the statement says.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said there are no excuses left for Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull not to act on this $30 million a year tax on women.
