Labor MPs have sounded warnings about proposed powers stripping citizenship from dual national terror suspects despite the opposition's support for the draft laws.

MPs will continue debating the controversial legislation before federal parliament on Tuesday.

West Australian MP Melissa Parke has broken ranks against the legislation which she believes is unconstitutional and contrary to the rule of law.

She said it would simply allow the government to act tough and inflate the threat posed to the nation, calling for the laws to be blocked.

Labor frontbencher Stephen Jones questioned whether the powers were constitutionally sound, despite reassurances from the government that it is.

He said he would not be surprised if the laws were subject to a successful High Court challenge.

The government wants the legislation passed by the end of next week.
