Labor NSW to disclose donations live

NSW Labor will disclose the source and amount of political donations within a week, opposition leader Luke Foley has announced.

NSW Labor will become the first Australian political party to disclose political donations within seven days, opposition leader Luke Foley says.

The source and amount of donations will be disclosed within a week, in a new system to be operational a year before the next election, Mr Foley announced at the NSW Labor conference.

"I challenge Mr Baird and the Liberals to make the same commitment," he told more than 800 cheering delegates in Sydney on Sunday.

Federal Labor infrastructure spokesman Anthony Albanese said his party would look at the proposal.

"Labor consistently has supported transparency when it comes to declarations of donations," he told reporters in Sydney on Sunday.

A spokesman for Premier Mike Baird said the government supported real-time, online disclosures of political donations in principle.

The reform was one of several being considered by a parliamentary committee.

"Once the committee reports, the government will consider any recommendations and move to implement them," the spokesman said.
