Labor outlines energy policy for election

Labor leader Bill Shorten has unveiled his party's energy policy, with $15 billion to fix the national energy network the centrepiece of the plan.

LABOR'S POWER PLAN

* $10 billion more for Clean Energy Finance Corporation over five years

* $5 billion to upgrade power networks

* $200 million program to provide $2000 subsidies for household batteries to 100,000 eligible families

* $100 million Neighbourhood Renewables Program establishing community power hubs supporting the development of projects to help renters and social housing residents

* 1000 grants of up to $20,000 to manufacturers to help them reduce energy usage

* $10 million boost to Clean Energy Regulator's battery auditing and inspecting regime

* $10 million to train clean energy workers

* Renewable energy target of 50 per cent by 2030

* A 45 per cent emissions reduction target by 2030 based on 2005 levels.
