Labor upbeat about Trump and Kim summit

Labor's foreign affairs spokeswoman Penny Wong is upbeat about a Vietnam summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Labor is upbeat about the Vietnam summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un, despite the two leaders failing to reach an agreement on nuclear weapons.

Opposition foreign affairs spokeswoman Penny Wong cast the two-day talks in a positive light.

"Well there is one thing worse than no deal and that's a bad deal ... my view is its better that people are talking than not talking," she told ABC radio on Thursday evening.
