Federal Labor has promised not to drag out a parliamentary debate on a government move to restore the building and construction watchdog.

Parliament has been recalled for a three-week sitting, that starts on Monday, to deal with legislation for the Australian Building and Construction Commission, tougher governance rules on trade unions and abolition of the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal.

"We will not be delaying, we will deal with these bills and if Mr Turnbull wants a double dissolution election we're ready for an election," Labor's Senate leader Penny Wong told reporters in Adelaide on Thursday.
