Labor won't re-introduce Medicare freeze

Labor won't re-introduce the controversial freeze on Medicare rebates to doctors once it is scrapped.

Labor will never re-introduce its controversial freeze on Medicare rebates, opposition health spokeswoman Catherine King has vowed.

Labor in government introduced an eight-month freeze to bring the rebate in line with the financial year in 2014, a measure extended to 2020 by the Abbott and Turnbull governments.

"It was the right decision for the time ... we won't be doing this (again)," Ms King told Sky News on Sunday.
