Labor won't support any government move to bring forward the May budget by a week.
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said Australians should not have to fork out $5 million to hold a special sitting of parliament to accommodate the budget being released on May 3 rather than May 10 as scheduled.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull had "boxed himself into a corner" on an early budget, he told the National Press Club in Canberra on Tuesday.
