Labor would rip up govt bargaining policy

Federal Labor says it would get rid of the coalition's bargaining policy for the public service if it wins the next election.

Labor in government would rip up the coalition's wage bargaining policy for public servants.

It would remove the requirement which forces government agencies to strip rights replacing it with an unspecified "fair pay" outcome.

"Labor will have an approach to enterprise bargaining that actually improves the capability of staff and provides fairness in the workplace, work-life balance and secure, meaningful jobs," opposition workplace spokesman Brendan O'Connor said in a statement on Thursday.
