Labor's $2m for SA sports centre upgrade

A South Australian sports complex will be redeveloped under a federal Labor government after local MP Amanda Rishworth pledged $2.26 million for the upgrade.

A South Australian sports centre will receive a $2.26 million investment under a Labor federal government.

The Aldinga Sports Complex in Adelaide's south will be upgraded to a multi-use facility for a range of sport, fitness and recreational activities.

The Labor federal government and local council will partner on the redevelopment.

A Labor government spokesperson said the money will be allocated in the first Labor budget.

"The funding is necessary to provide the rapidly growing population in Adelaide's south with access to world-class sporting facilities," the spokesperson said.

"We aim to have the project completed as soon as possible."

Labor's Kingston MP Amanda Rishworth said an upgrade was first promised by the previous Labor state government.

"The state liberal government reversed this decision after it was elected a year ago," Mrs Rishworth said.

"It has only been through the advocacy of federal and state Labor that this project will now get back on track."
