The South African-born 22-year-old earned the final Heat contract for next season, rounding out their 18-strong squad.
He was rewarded for winning player-of-the-tournament honours after helping Queensland make the recent domestic one-day final.
The No.4 batsman admitted he was trying to get his head around a potential BBL debut for the Heat.

"I have been to a fair few games (as a fan). It's a great atmosphere," he said.
"I am now proud to have the chance to play in front of a big crowd."
Brisbane mustered just three wins in the 2015-16 BBL season.
