Sri Lanka Cricket says it will send its team to Pakistan for a Twenty20 international next month only after more security assessments.
Cricket board chief executive Ashley de Silva says officials will continue to monitor security in Pakistan.
Sri Lanka are in the United Arab Emirates, where two Tests, five one-dayers and two T20 internationals are scheduled against Pakistan at neutral venues.
The final Twenty20 is scheduled for Lahore in Pakistan, where Sri Lanka's team bus came under a terrorist attack in 2009. The attack killed some Pakistani security officials and wounded two Sri Lankan players.
An official will be sent to Lahore two weeks ahead of the scheduled October 29 match before making a final call, de Silva said.
Sri Lankan Test captain and former ODI and T20 skipper Dinesh Chandimal says touring Pakistan will be a collective decision by the team and it will happen only after more discussions.
Chandimal said teammate Thisara Perera, who was part of a World XI team who played this month in Pakistan, had expressed satisfaction on the security arrangements.
No international cricket team has toured Pakistan since 2009, except a short limited-overs visit in 2015 by Zimbabwe. Pakistan hosted T20 matches against a World XI to try to revive international cricket at home.
Sri Lanka will open their tour of UAE with a Test starting next Thursday.
