Australian swimmer Mitch Larkin has won the final of the 100m backstroke at the FINA World Cup in Doha, clocking the fastest time in the event this year.
Larkin produced a blistering time of 52.11, lowering his Australian and Commonwealth record in the process.
His time is the third best ever, sitting just behind Aaron Peirsols world record of 51.94, Matt Grevers 52.08 from London 2012 and equal with Camille Lacourt from 2010.
With the Aussies bringing backstroke to the forefront of the swimming world, Emily Seebohm also happily carried on her golden streak, first taking out the 50m back and then storming home to grab the gold in the last lap of the 200m backstroke.
In the 50m, Seebohm touched in 27.57 to relegate Katinka Hosszu to second in 27.99 with Felicia Lee from the USA third in 28.32.
Then Seebohm stormed past Hosszu in the final 50 metres of the 200m, to beat her to the wall once again with a time of 2:06.94. Hosszu couldnt hold onto the lead and touched in 2:07.13 with Daryna Zevina rounding out the top three in 2:11.07.
