Larrazabal sets pace at China Open golf

Pablo Larrazabal is three shots clear at the top of the China Open leaderboard after the second round of the European Tour event.

The Spaniard, who started the day a shot off the lead, fired a six-under 66 on Friday to be 14 under.

South Africa's Dylan Frittelli and overnight leader Alexander Levy are tied second at 11 under.

Frittelli jumped 24 spots courtesy of a nine-under 63, matching Frenchman Levy's first-round effort.

Larrazabal, who started the second round one stroke off the lead, offset a lone bogey with five birdies and an eagle on the par-4 11th to finish at 14 under.

Lee Soo-min of South Korea is alone in fourth after a 65 left him four shots off the pace.

Belgian Thomas Detry (66) and George Coetzee of South Africa (69) share fifth spot at eight under, while seven players are a shot further back.

Brett Rumford matched his opening round score of 71 to be the best-placed Australian - in a tie for 45th - at two under. Matthew Guyatt (71) and Jason Norris (73) are at one under to sneak in to the weekend at one under.

Another 10 Australians failed to make the cut.

A confident LarrazabaI, buoyed by a solid showing last week in , is chasing a fifth European Tour victory.

"It's good to have some confidence coming into the week - I feel like I'm just trying to keep up the same stuff I was working on last week - and so far so good," he told told europeantour.com.

"It's been a great two days of work, I have been playing good and putting awesome so I am looking forward to the weekend.

"It's been a long time since I have been leading a golf tournament and I love it, so hopefully another good 36 holes and we will see what happens."
