The last batch of Coke has been bottled in Adelaide, bringing down the curtain on the Thebarton plant that has operated for more than 65 years.
The line came to a halt on Tuesday, marking the end for a factory that has produced 10 billion bottles across various lines, from Coke to water and whisky and the end of an era for long-time employee Craig Bollenhagen.
Mr Bollenghagen has worked at Thebarton for 41 years while his father also spent 35 years with the company.
"It was in my blood. I got brought up with a Coke and I've stayed here ever since," he said.
"When you see the last bottle come off you do feel a bit sad.
"But it's not the end of the world."
Coca-Cola Amatil decided to close the Thebarton factory in February last year after a review of its operations across the country.
That recommended boosting production in other states with the company investing $90 million in new facilities in Richlands in Queensland and increasing volumes in WA, Victoria and NSW.
It said barriers to expanding the ageing Adelaide facility included its CBD location and layout, dated infrastructure and expensive logistics.
Coca-Cola has put the site on the market but a sale is yet to be finalised.
General sales manager Jarrad Mortimer said the company would continue to have a presence in SA with about 150 workers involved in sales, distribution, warehousing, cold drink equipment, IT and recycling.
Only about 30 workers remained on site for the final run on Tuesday with more than a 100 leaving early, most finding new work or choosing to retire.
