The last engine to be built at Holden's Port Melbourne factory has rolled off the production line, leaving 175 workers facing an uncertain future.
The final V6 Commodore engine to be built at the site was finished on Tuesday morning, with the plant now set to close.
"Today's closure of GM Holden's engine plant in Port Melbourne will be a sad and difficult day for 175 workers, many with long and proud careers working at the plant," Employment Minister Wade Noonan said on Tuesday.
