Last World Cup tickets go on sale

The last lot of World Cup tickets will go on sale to the public on Tuesday night (AEST).

FIFA says nearly 200,000 World Cup tickets are going on sale online, the last sales phase before the tournament begins.

Football's governing body says fans will be able to purchase tickets for 54 of the 64 matches beginning on Tuesday night at 8pm (AEST). The tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis on FIFA.com.

However, one of the 10 games for which tickets will not be sold on Tuesday night is the Socceroos' Group B match against world champions Spain on June 23 at Curitiba.

Others that aren't available include the final, the opening match between hosts Brazil and Croatia and the Group D blockbuster between England and Italy on June 14.

FIFA's marketing director Thierry Weil says it's "the last chance for fans to secure their tickets."

More than 2.5 million tickets have already been allocated. The general public has purchased about 1.5 million tickets.

Of the half a million tickets sold to the international public, Australia sits third for support, behind only Brazil and the United States.
