Imposing goal shooter Cathrine Latu has missed out on a New Zealand recall for the Constellation Cup netball series against world champions Australia.
Latu, a surprise omission from the Silver Ferns outfit who claimed the silver medal behind the Diamonds at the recent world championship in Sydney, was again omitted from the 12-strong squad despite the absence of star goal attack Maria Tutaia.
Coach Waimarama Taumaunu on Wednesday opted for three-cap Central Pulse shooter Ameliaranne Wells ahead of Latu in the only change to the world championship squad.
Taumaunu said Wells, who can also play goal attack, was the ideal replacement for Tutaia.
"Ameliaranne is strong on the shot, has good movement around the circle and provides a long-range shooting game that complements our other shooters," said Taumaunu, who leaves her post after the four-Test series.
The Silver Ferns host the first two matches in Christchurch and Auckland later this month before matches in Melbourne and Perth.
SILVER FERNS: Jodi Brown, Kayla Cullen, Leana de Bruin, Shannon Francois, Katrina Grant, Phoenix Karaka, Casey Kopua, Laura Langman, Bailey Mes, Malia Paseka, Grace Rasmussen, Ameliaranne Wells.
