Channel Nine Political Correspondent Laurie Oakes won the Gold Walkley in 2010 for his coverage of the Labor leaks during the federal election campaign.

The 69-year-old journalist has been in the media for over 40 years but his passion for the job hasn't faded.

Oakes has been described as a “veteran of the veterans” and his ability to sniff out breaking political news has earned him the respect of politicians and peers alike.
