Australian tennis legend Rod Laver was honoured on Wednesday with a stamp and postcard by the Czech Post to commemorate this weekend's first edition of the Laver Cup.

The Ryder Cup-style event which pits Europe against the World, runs from Friday through Sunday in Prague.

The last man to win the calendar-year grand slam in 1969 said: "It's an incredible honor to have this new event, the Laver Cup, named after me, and I'm humbled to now have this beautiful stamp and postcard produced here in Prague.

"I have wonderful memories of playing here in this beautiful city and am delighted the first ever Laver Cup is being played here."

Team Europe, coached by Bjorn Borg, features Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on the same side of the net which John McEnroe's World comprises Americans, a Canadian and Australian Nick Kyrgios.
