Allegations of leaking from Emergency Management Victoria has sparked an internal investigation.

Commissioner Andrew Crisp on Friday confirmed an inquiry was under way and "action taken as necessary".

It has been reported by the Herald Sun that four people including the deputy commissioner had been stood down over inappropriate disclosure of information, but Mr Crisp would not confirm.

"I am unable at this time to comment further or to comment on employment and other matters relating to individual staff," he said in a statement.

"But I want to make it crystal clear that all staff are required to abide by the Victorian Public Service Code of Conduct and department policies.
