Learner rider clocked at 131km/h in Tas

Two learner motorbike riders will face court after being nabbed speeding through a 60km/h zone in northern Tasmania.

A learner teenage motorbike rider has been nabbed allegedly speeding at more than double the limit in northern Tasmania.

The rider was one of two 17-year-olds spotted by police on Tuesday night at Deloraine zooming through a 60km/h zone.

One was allegedly doing 131km'h, the other 111km/h.

"The speeds these riders were doing are dangerous for any rider, and even more so for inexperienced riders," Sergeant Tony Roughan said.

The pair have had their bikes confiscated for 28 days and will face court.
