Legal help withdrawal 'particularly harsh': Triggs

The federal government appears to have cut off free legal assistance for thousands of asylum-seekers who have arrived by boat.

Groups providing asylum-seeker support under the government-funded Immigration Advice and Application Scheme say they've not received any referrals since before the federal election.

President of the Human Rights Commission Gillian Triggs told Thea Cowie she's concerned about the change.
