Lendlease expects a strong pipeline of apartment and office projects to drive earnings growth, after the construction group delivered a 13 per cent jump in annual net profit.

Chief executive Steve McCann said the group is well placed heading into the 2017 fiscal year despite a mixed external operating environment.

"Earnings visibility remains high with a growing pipeline across all three operating segments," Mr McCann said.

Lendlease's operations span Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas but the bulk of earnings came from its vast local operations for the year ended June 30, 2016.

The group's development pipeline rose nine per cent to $48.8 billion in 2015/16, while residential pre sales hit a record $5.9 billion, up 13 per cent from a year earlier.

Construction revenue the group is set to earn in future years jumped 20 per cent to $20.7 billion, with further work of about $7 billion in preferred bidder status.

Mr McCann said the outlook for Lendlease's engineering business is particularly strong on the back of $2.8 billion of new work secured, with plans to bid on more work.

Mr McCann said it was too early to say what the impact of the UK's recent decision to leave the European Union will be on demand.

In the UK, Lendlease is working on a regeneration project in London's Elephant & Castle, that will consist of 3,000 new homes, and the construction of new apartments on the International Quarter London site.

Net profit rose to $698.2 million, thanks to the presale of apartments, and forward sales of two major commercial buildings in London and one in Sydney.

Lendlease also received $1.2 billion in cash proceeds from two completed office towers at the Barangaroo development in Sydney.

The company's development business was the star performer, with a 30 per cent rise in annual operating underlying earnings.

Residential settlements rose seven per cent from a year ago to 4,790 units.

Lendlease shares closed up 27 cents at $14.38 in a slightly higher Australian market.
