A leaked letter shows senior staff within Pauline Hanson’s party fear ‘remote controlling’ the NSW branch from Queensland may breach electoral rules

Pauline Hanon’s One Nation has written to the NSW Electoral Commission admitting it may not meet registration rules and may need to take urgent action to lodge the right paperwork before June 30.

The letter, obtained by Fairfax Media, was written by the party’s NSW state secretary Peter Breen.
The issue has to do with balance sheets and reports for the NSW party instead being based in Queensland.

“It was clear from our meeting on 22 May 2018 that operating the party by remote control from Queensland may be in breach of the NSW funding and disclosure laws,” he wrote.

The party has until June 30 to submit the correct paperwork.

Senator Hanson’s chief of staff James Ashby told Fairfax Media the matter would be dealt with before the deadline.

“The matter is being resolved and the party has until the 30th of June to submit the necessary documents,” Mr Ashby said.

Senator Brian Burston, who has now joined Clive Palmer’s rebranded movement, recently sacked Peter Breen as his advisor.
