Leaked internal Liberal polling says the bellwether seat Eden-Monaro could go back to Labor at the upcoming election.

Liberal Party internal polling shows the key electorate of Eden-Monaro could be lost, with other marginal coalition seats also in peril.

The polling, leaked to the Seven Network, writes off Eden-Monaro, won from Labor at the 2013 election and now held by junior finance minister Peter Hendy.

It says it's a "likely loss."

Eden-Monaro is the famous bellwether electorate which for the last 17 elections has gone to whichever party wins government. The internal polling shows Mr Hendy six points behind the Labor candidate, former member Mike Kelly.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said he would not comment on polling of this kind.

"I would treat that with scepticism but I don't comment on these polling leaks," he told ABC radio.

Mr Turnbull said he was confident the coalition would hold all its seats and win seats from Labor.

"We are quietly confident because of course elections in Australia are always very close and this one will be close," he said.

The leaked polling gives some other bad news about the government's marginal seats, including Reid, Banks, Gilmore and Bennelong, won by Labor from John Howard then retaken for the Liberal Party by John Alexander.

There's also some good news.

Lindsay and Hughes are expected to be safe, as is New England, now held by Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce who's facing a challenge from former independent Tony Windsor.
