Environment minister Greg Hunt has joined Liberal candidate for Fremantle Sherry Sufi in an environmental election pledge for the left-leaning seat, which Labor has held since 1934.
The Liberals will roll out a new Green Army project in Fremantle if successful in the July election, removing invasive species and working to protect the vulnerable Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo - an endangered bird that is threatened by the planned, federally-funded Roe 8 road project.
Mr Hunt said the commonwealth would work with local government and community groups.
