Liberals name Braddon by-election runner

The Tasmanian Liberals have tipped former Braddon MP Brett Whiteley to contest and retake his seat in an upcoming by-election.

The Liberals have announced their candidate to contest the Tasmanian seat of Braddon in a by-election, to be held as soon as July.

Brett Whiteley previously held the seat from 2013 to 2016 before being unseated by Labor's Justine Keay, whose resignation this week for being a dual-citizen at the time of her nomination has brought the seat back into play.

"Braddon has been let down by the Labor member who hasn't been part of the government, and hasn't delivered anything tangible for the region," Mr Whiteley said in a Tasmanian Liberals Facebook post on Saturday.
