Liberals won't lose WA seat: Barnett

The Liberals won't lose any seats in WA, believes Premier Colin Barnett.

Malcolm Turnbull should win Saturday's election and the Liberals should hold their dominant position in WA and retain all 12 seats, says Premier Colin Barnett.

However he says a federal coalition win would be neither a positive or negative sign for his own chances at the polls next year, with Labor ahead in recent state polls.

"The Liberal party holds 12 out of 15 seats, that's very much a high watermark but I'm confident the Liberal party will hold its seats with the one question Burt, which is a new so no one really can claim it," Mr Barnett told reporters while voting in Cottesloe, one of Perth's wealthiest suburbs.

People knew the difference between state and national politics and voted accordingly, he said, but conceded a Labor win would mean losing federal funding for the $1.9 billion-plus Perth Freight Link road project which would instead go to public trains.
