Fiona Scott was chosen by the party's selection committee in a ballot on Tuesday night, defeating school teacher Margaret Grand, 55.
Ms Scott describes herself as "a genuine local who knows this community and its issues" and says she is honoured to have been selected.

"I know there is a large task ahead, but I am willing to do the work on behalf of the community," she said in a statement.
"Labor has ignored western Sydney and the community is fed up with it - that was clear in the Penrith by-election."
Lindsay includes most of the NSW state seat of Penrith and is currently held by Labor's David Bradbury with a 6.3 per cent margin.
But it could be vulnerable to Liberal attack after a recent voter backlash against state Labor in the Penrith by-election.
Former Penrith MP Karyn Paluzzano resigned in May after admitting rorting her expenses, sparking the June by-election which the NSW Liberals won convincingly.
The party is also due to preselect a candidate to fight for Greenway, the federal seat that covers parts of Blacktown.
Greenway is currently held by Liberal MP Louise Markus, who will now contest Macquarie following the redistribution of electorate boundaries.
An announcement on Greenway should be made by Saturday at the latest, Liberal Party spokeswoman Wendy Black said.
Party members will also be asked to endorse a sole Liberal candidate due to fight for Chifley, the federal seat currently held by Labor.
