Light plane makes emergency landing in WA

A light plane had to make an emergency landing two kilometres away from an airport in Western Australia's Mid West region after a mechanical failure.

A light plane has been forced to make an emergency landing in Western Australia's Mid West region.

The aircraft had mechanical difficulties on approach to the Geraldton Airport just before 7pm on Wednesday and had to land two kilometres away in an open area, police said.

The male pilot and his female passenger, both aged in their 20s, escaped unhurt.
