Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Tina Fey stars in this action-comedy about a journalist who reboots her innercity life for a position as foreign correspondent in a war zone. Based on the acclaimed memoir by Kim Barker, it also stars Margot Robbie, Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman and Stephen Peacocke.
Deadpool

The merc with a mouth gets the solo film treatment he so deserves, with Ryan Reynolds returning as the Marvel  antihero Deadpool. R-rated, bloody violent and a lil bit sexual, this looks like one of the most faithful comic book-to-screen adaptations we've seen. If the months of bonkers marketing material is anything to go by, this is going to be a hilarious outing.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Taika Waititi is a bit of a genuis, you know. With a directing slate that includes What We Do In The Shadows, Boy, Eagle Vs Shark, Flight Of The Conchords and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, he's a versatile filmmaker with an original vision. His latest stars Sam Neill as a kooky uncle who - along with his nephew - spark a manhunt in the New Zealand bush.

Hail, Caesar!

Few films look as magical or ambitious in 2016 as The Coen Brothers next outing which has the kind of cast to make you dizzy with George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Josh Brolin and more. Yes more, somehow. The kidnap caper set amongst classic Hollywood is a must-watch.
Moana

The last Disney Princess of colour was Tiana back in 2009 in the Princess and the Frog but - hooray! - we're getting another! And a Polynesian princess no less. Moana follows the story of young woman with navigational talents who sets sail for a fabled island with a demi-God by her side. With actual Polynesians Dwayne Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho voicing the central characters and a rich mythology to draw from, this looks to be one of the most diverse and inclusive Disney productions and from two of their most trusted directing teams in Ron Clements and John Musker (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid).
The Nice Guys

Shane Black is a consistent filmmaker, with every offering being something rich in colourful action, attitude, drama and mixed with his unique blend of black humour. Seventies buddy cop flick The Nice Guys looks no different, with one of the major drawcards being the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe.
Ghostbusters

Who ya gonna call? Why, the all-female, all-badass team of new female Ghostbusters - that's who. Brought to us by the creatives behind Bridesmaids and The Heat (Paul Feig and Kate Dippold), it packs a cast full of the funniest women in the game including Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones. With Chris Hemsworth as the gender-bent secretary and the OG cast members popping in for cameos, this will hopefully reinvigorate the franchise.

Captain America: Civil War

One of the best story arcs in comic book history is getting brought to life for the third Captain America flick, which is directed by the ever-reliable Russo Brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Agent Carter). The trailer looks all kinds of glorious - Black Panther! Bucky! Maybe Ant-Man! - and this seems set to be one of the studio's most epic outings yet.
Spotlight

There are few things better than a well-crafted conspiracy thriller and that's Spotlight in a nutshell. Based on the true story of a team of investigative journalists who uncover a sexual abuse scandal within the Boston Catholic Church, it's a moving story grounded by the stellar performances of Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Stanley Tucci, Liev Schreiber and Rachel McAdams. Due for release in Australia early 2016 to coincide with awards season, you won't have to wait long.
Gambit

A superhero movie that has slid under the radar, X-Men spinoff Gambit will finally give us a full movie of the ragin' Cajun doing what he does best: being awesome. Channing Tatum stars as the cult character and mutant, with the most excellent Doug Liman sitting in the director's chair after the success of sci-fi blockbuster Edge Of Tomorrow. Not as flashy as the big Marvel ensemble pieces or as dark as DC, keep an eye on this as it's bound to be a creeper.
