Lily Allen has just released the video to her album's title track Sheezus.

The singer told fans via her Twitter account she would have a "pressie" for them before she tweeted the YouTube link to the new video on Wednesday.

Allen is the only person in the pared-back video which shows the popstar singing to camera surrounded by some retro 1980s' graphics.

The singer looks like a boxer in a hooded top and a thick gold chain as she mentions "getting in the ring" and "pulling punches".

The boxing metaphors continue as she sings "there goes the bell, I know that sound. I guess it's time for me to go another round".

As the chorus kicks in, she appears in a new outfit in a low-cut yellow top and her hair in a sleek bob.

In the down tempo song Allen references the competition between her popstar peers, Lorde, Beyonce and Katy Perry as the battle for pop supremacy.

"Second best will never cut it for the divas.

"Give me that crown b**** I wanna be Sheezus," she sings.

The singer also touches on the subject of menstruation singing: "Then again, I'm just about to get my period...periods we all get periods".

Allen's album Sheezus is due to be released in May.
