St George Illawarra star Josh Dugan concedes coach Paul McGregor is fast running out of patience following two disastrous, points-less efforts.
Dugan says McGregor will be forced to swing the axe if his side again come up empty handed following embarrassing NRL losses to Brisbane and North Queensland in which they failed to fire a shot over the last fortnight.
The Dragons go into Saturday's game against Gold Coast at CBus Super Stadium having been already been outscored 62-0 on their swing through Queensland and have been warned another heavy defeat will have consequences.
"If the side's not performing, there's got to be some changes," Dugan said.
"But everyone's pretty confident this week considering the last two weeks.

"But they're the two best sides in the comp, it's hard to judge on those performances. Obviously we weren't up to standard and we didn't play to our potential but we've got this week to rectify it."
McGregor's patience has been pushed to the limit after their woeful effort in the 26-0 defeat to title favourites Brisbane last week in which they failed at even the fundamentals.
After making 16 handling errors against the Cowboys, they dropped the ball 14 times against the Broncos, sending alarm bells ringing.
"We're just not completing," Dugan said.
"We've been completing at under 70 per cent in all our losses and when we win we're completing above 80 so there's no science to it. We've just got to hold the ball and complete our sets."
