Brisbane star Dayne Beams has opened up about the impact of his dad's death, saying he cried after their big AFL win over Carlton.
Beams starred in Saturday's 65-point win at the Gabba, but it was a sombre aftermath.
Philip Beams, the father of Dayne and fellow Lion Claye, died in March after a long battle with cancer.
Dayne gave up the Brisbane captaincy two months later.
He said football had helped with his grieving and the onballer has been in strong form.

But Beams said it was tough after the win over the Blues as he remembered his father.
"I was quite emotional after the game yesterday. I was doing my recovery and I started crying," Beams told 3AW.
"I started thinking about things; where I kicked that goal yesterday was pretty much right where dad used to sit, and those sort of things go through your head.
"Yes, it's nice that I was able to kick a goal where dad used to sit, but at the same time, gee I wish he was there to see it."
Beams added he is likely to stay at Brisbane, amid speculation he might seek a trade back to Melbourne at the end of the season.
Asked if he would stay with the Lions, Beams replied: "at this stage, yeah".
"I have always said I will live back in Victoria post my career," he added.
"I think people tried to draw a line between me handing over the captaincy. I don't know where the reports are coming from.
"My wife is from Victoria, I see Victoria as home, Queensland to be honest is not home for me.
"I have always made it clear at the end of my career I will end up back in Victoria."
